Gallows of Madness

A Foul Breed

Arrival in Saringallow

Responding to a call from the Mayor of Saringallow in Isger, Sandra Trinelli, the party made their way to the town to meet the Mayor in her offices at the Town Hall. Mayor Trinelli explained that 6 young apprentices are missing and there are rumours of sightings of enormous insects roaming about the town. She asks the party to investigate both and to see if they are linked but asked that it be done as quietly as possible. Mayor Trinelli suggests starting with the masters of each apprentice and hands them a list along with an official signed letter should the party run into stubborn townsfolk.

The party split up each heading to a different master. Whilst one master, Majara Pricknettle of the apothecary was not forthcoming, the other masters were a bit more open. It transpired that the 6 apprentices were friends and hung out a lot, often getting up to mischief. The instigator for a lot of this seems to be Gellion Vazarro, the apothecary’s apprentice.

Brother Anton discovered from the Baker, Gunty Keronna, after a test of strength that his apprentice Naomi Tauralio has been missing for a few days and that he has seen strange flickering lights in the orchard at night

Cuthbert Longbeard discovered from Father Ildris Ruvarra, that his apprentice, Nolaria Wintren, was last seen in the graveyard. Heading to the Graveyard to check, Cuthbert fell foul to two Fiendish Giant Worker Ants. The unconscious paladin was rescued by acolytes of the temple. Returning to the Inn the party had set up shop in.

After hearing Sir Cuthbert’s tale, the party decided to head to the graveyard first then the orchard at night. At the graveyard, ready this time, the party encountered the and dealt with the giant ants. They discovered a strange disgusting growth over a couple of gravestones a couple of items including a masterwork Morningstar covered with the strange growth. The party took the Morningstar carefully wrapped in a cloak. They also discovered the temple’s apprentice, Nolaria Wintren’s raven familiar squawking loudly “Yellow Foot, Get Yellow Foot”. This rang a bell with Fane Shadowgrove who was told by the cobbler, Drummady Laterna, that her apprentice recently made a pair of yellow boots for Gellion.

Later that evening the party headed to the Orchard the strange flickering lights that the Baker, Gunty Keronna mentioned were Fiendish Fire Beetles that attacked the party. After dealing with the threat, the party found more of the strange disgusting growth along with a masterwork sap and signs of a struggle between two humanoid creatures. One set of tracks led South out of the orchard.
