On returning to
Roesone, the party discovered that the town of Theoren’s Landing in north of
the country had been overrun by forces from the Spiderfell.
While
Marlae marched north with the army from Proudglaive, the party accepted a
mission to take a message to the Count of Ghoried to co-ordinate battle plans
to repel the invaders.
Arriving at
Ghoried Manor, the party discovered the keep had been overrun and a second
detachment of Spiderfell troops was mustering there. Realising that this would
place a major force behind Maralae’s back when she attempted to retake
Theoren’s Landing, the part reolved to warn Marlae.
First however
they decided to see if they could discover the fate of the the old count and
his family. Entering the keep the freed some prisoners and discovered that the
count and his family had been slain by giant spiders that had scaled the walls
in the night before the orogs assaulted the keep.Sowing what confusion they
could among the orog troopers as a delaying tactic (and slaying not a few) the
party hurried to warn the baroness.
Arriving in the
nick of time to warn her, the baroness was able to alter her battle plans and
successfully drive the invaders out.
The party
acquitted themselves well in the battle and at the following victory feast Lord
Norvaire was proclaimed Count of Ghoried for services to the realm.
