Ghost Cartels - Body SnatchersRunners: Kitsune, Polo, Sirius, El Torro, Spirit, Blackout, ZIPcode Session One...from zipCode's blogWe were contacted by our old chummer Smiley - a Johnson had asked for us to meet him at the 77 club, a swanky joint in Renton, the kinda place way outta our league - but who's to arguee when the cred comes callin'.'The Johnson only turns out to be Yakamura - our friendly Korean Seoul Man. He tells us that some chummmer called Jania Shields, a reported who had been snooping round the Tempo dealings, had been found dead from an overdose of the stuff. He wanted us snatch the body and the autopsy records from good ole boys at Doc Wagon. He also offered a cool 10k bonus if we can find any records of her investigation - should be a breeze. At least that's what we though till we scoped out the target - the dead-house was down by the river and built like a freakin' fortress. They even had done of their high-threat response teams based there! Their security was top-notch as well - this was going to be a tought nut to crack! I ran a series of background checks on Shields and quickly I.D.'d her only relatives - a mother and sister living in Tacoma . Heading round to Blackout's palatial abode we (well, Spirit mainly) quickly hatched a plan - to pose as the grieving relatives and get the body all nice and sorta legal. Heading on down to Tacoma, a stunball from Orion and couple of narcojet rounds from LT made sure the grieving relatives wouldn't be objecting to our little ruse. Blackout made a call to the mortuary claiming to be a lawyer and advising them the family were on their way to pick up the body immediately - with a court-order if necessary to stop any post-mortem. Blackout's disguised Spirit and Orion as the mother and sister - Blackout dresed-up as the family's lawyer and even Polo was coaxed out of her combat boots and floral creton frock and into some smart duds to pose as a court official. Spirit and I headed up to Renton and got one of her freaky artist chummers to paint some signage on the side of one of the black vans we "liberated" fom the Ragers - sayin' it was an undertaker's van. Then me, Kitsune and El Torro, squeezed into some uncomfortable black suits and tried to look serious as mortuary attendants. LT hung back in the van with a small arsenal ready to come out guns blazing it it all went to hell and back, but astonishingly, the plan worked, and in sort order we were speeding along teh Tacoma Spur with the stiff secured in the back. Session Two...from zipCode's blogI took a quick trip through the paydate on Jania's commlink. There were several refrences to stuff being stored at "Sinn's Place" None of us had ever heard of Sinn - nor had any of our contacts a quick root through the Matrix came up with nada as well.I did discover some mails that Jania had sent to a PI based in the Verge, which looked to o have some connection to the Tempo. As the meeting with the organleggers wasn't scheduled until 2 AM, we left LT and Polo babysing the stiff in a layby off the Spur. The rest of us headed out to the Verge to check out the PI's office. The security on her systems was mediocre to say the best - certainly no clallenge to Yours Truly, I was able to retrieve all the data relating to the Tempo inverstigation - including an adress of our chummer Sinn - who was apparently a small-time dealer. We headed on down to Sinn's place and almost walzed straight into the drek and the street outside was "gang-wars central". The Ragers and the First Nations were obviously after Sinn too and were duking it out in the street out front. Being wise and sagacious Shadowrunners, we went round the back! While Orion did an astral survey of the joint - locating Sinn in his appartment busy barricading himself inside. Kitsune managed to get the fire escape down and he Orion and Blackout headed up. I got out the sweet assualt rifle I'd filched from somewher and slotted a clip of APDS. Spirit meanwhile, muttered something about " needing a battering ram"; paused, and with a wiggle of her fingers, summoned a fraggin' earth sprit! She insisted on calling the damned thing "Mo" for some reason best known to herself, at at a gesture it began lumbering up the stairway ahead of us! Still, the spirit quickly proved useful as a Rager, who'd got into the building, slotted-off a few rounds in our direction! At a word from Sprit, Mo reached in, pulled the Rager right through the window, and casually tossed the choob clear across the alleyway. Moving forward, using Mo as cover, I took the opportunity to lay down a suppressing fire. Not that any of the others noticed - ingrates! When we got up to the floor Sinn's appartment was on Blackout and Kitsune had to geek a couple of Ragers coming up the stairs, before Mo crashed down the door and put the squeeze on Sinn. The spirit carried the slot-head bodily out of the room where Spirit managed to persuade him to spill where the paydata was. We scored the datachips from his wall-safe, and headed out. Being kind generous souls, we took Sinn with us, dropping him off on the way to meet up with LT and Polo. We hung around the lay-by for a few hours, during which time I browsed the paydata discovering that Jania was not so much interested in Tempo as such, but was investigating a serial killer who had been geeking users. Blackout arranged to meet with the Johnson after dropping the stiff off with the 'leggers. The 'leggers turned out to be a bunch of ghouls who tried to stiff us on the price. But one mention of Yakamura's name and they soon backed down! The meet with the Johnson went sweetly, and several thou cred to the richer I'm headed off to hit the sack. Think I might take a few weeks off... zC |
